AT GRESHAM HOTEL
DE VALERA’S CHIEF OF STAFF* “O’CONNOR’S SENIOR OFFICER* LONDON, July S. Mr De Valera, m his headquarters at the Grasham Hotel, has Oscar Traynor, formerly commandant of the Dublin Brigade, as his chief military adviser. A letter has been published sag. gesUng that on Friday Traynor ordered Rory O’Connor to surrender the Four Courtoon the ground that Traynor was unable to fight his way to O’Connor, and that he could do better if the Four Courts was surrendered. The message ended:—“l, as your senior officer, am entitled to order you to make a move which places me in a better military position.” There is no evidence, however, that O’Connor obeyed.
