INVERCARGILL RELIEF SCHEME. PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. INVERCARGILL, July 3. The Returned Soldidrs’ Association recently approached the Town Council and proposed a scheme to finance work to absorb unemployed ex-soldiers, the association providing a su*m oi £330, a further fund being available if necessary by the council subsidising the amount. The council accepted the scheme and adopted a programme of improvements to reserves on which twenty ex-soldiers were set to work to-day. Tho number is likely to be largely increased. _ If many men offer t/lio work will he given on four days a week in order that relief may be continued as long as possible.
