The killing at Smithfield and Pareora freezing works is 'being accomplished by four teams of thirteen men at each. It took some time to get all going, but at both works the applicants are nearly all intelligent young men, and ■they picked up their respective hits of duty well. Each works killed 700 in a short day, and everything was cleaned up and skins painted. The men expect to do from 1000 to 1200 to-mor-row. There are plenty of stock available. Two union butchers joined in at Pareora.
