REVENUE FROM TAXATION. BACK TO 1920 BASIS. The figiures of revenue from taxation for the year ended March 31st, 1922, are now available, and provide interesting comparisons. Compared with 1921, in which year the total was over 22 millions, the returns for last .year show a drop of nearly six millions, and are on a par with the returns for 1920. The effect of the abnormal volume of .imports in the year ended March 31st, 1921, is very apparent, more than half of tho excess of nearly £6,000,000 over each of the neighbouring years being due to tin’s factor. Incometax collectione for 1920-21 were also much higher than in the preceding and following years, which incidentally since snow similar remits, not- only in the aggregate, but also in the two principal items.
