HARRIERS
COMBINED RUN. The harrier clubs of Wellington combined for a run from Island Bay on Saturday, ing. In addition about fifty supporters and friends were present. A number of incidents of the run were filmed, the harriers entering into the spirit of the venture with great zest. ,This film will be screened shortly at one of the leading picture theatres at a benefit performance for the purpose of raising funds to assist in financing the Wellington team to the New Zealand crosscountry chajupionships at Dunedin. Commencing with a group of till present, the start pf the run from Cliff House was then photographed, followed by a scene entering Happy Valley. Then came the assent of a steep clay bank, followed by descent down a similar bank and across a stream.
The nest incident filmed was a water jump.from a bank about eight feet high across a wide stream; the majority of the runners, however, failed to clear this obstacle, and added to the interest of the picture by landing in the middle of the stream. After this the harriers left Happy Valiev and returned over the hills to Island Bay; they presented a splendid sight as they scaled the precipitous hillside, became silhouetted against the skyline momentarily, and diV appeared over the crest, the whole ol the ascent being included on tbe film. The finish of the run-in was also recorded. this event resulting in a win for C- Campbell (Olympic), with W. Scatchard (Olympic), and M. Griffen (Olympic in the places. The next to' were N. Smillie (Brooklyn) and R. Watson (Wellington). Throughout, the harriers showed a commendable spirit in sacrificing the pleasures of their usual unbroken run to the needs of securing a good picture. The film has been developed, and considering the dull light in wHoh the latter portion particularly was taken, it is quite satisfactory. C. Rowberrv (Wellington controlled the niw. Tf. Todd (Brooklyn) being vice-cap-tain. The fhanks of the clubs are due to Mr A. B. Tracey for placing his motor-car at the disnosa] of the operator. BROOKLYN CLUB.
