FEATHERED FANCY

SHOW AT BUCKLE STREET. POULTRY, PIGEON, CANARY AND CAT SOCIETY, a A fine array of the feathered fancy was cn view at the Drill Hall, Buckle street, yesterday afternoon, and evening on the occasion of the fortieth annual show of the Wellington Poultry, Pigeon, Canary and Cat Society. The attendance of the public was more numerous than last year, which augurs well for the success of the allow which will be open to-day and to-morrow from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m. Tlie opening ceremony was performed by Colonel G. R. Mitchell, M.P., who congratulated the society on the splendid collection of exhibits. There is a large entry and competition in many of the classes was particularly keen. The society is holding an art union in conjunction with tho show. Mr W. Hall, of Now Plymouth, judged the fancy poultry, and Mr J. Thompson, of Auckland, was judge of the utility classes^
