SERIOUS LOSS
FIRE AT WAIRAKEI. PEH PRESS ASSOCIATION. ROTORUA, June 29. Serious loss resulted from a fire in tlio old hotel buildings at AVairakoi, used as a dwelling, bar, and bulk store. Tlio fire ocourred at 3.30 a.m., and the building and contents were completely destroyed. All the summer equipment of tents and bedding, and all the liquor stocks, were lost. Mr and Mrs Baker had a very narrow escape. The earthquakes in the Taupe district are fairly numerous and strong.
