LATE SIR ROSS SMITH
WORKMAN SUSPENDED FOR ATTENDING FUNERAL. A message from Adelaide states:— Although there was a fairly general suspension of bulsinesß to enable employees to attend Sir Ross Smith’s funeral, one servant of a Port Adelaide firm stands suspended for having paid his last respects to the departed airman. Tho firm declined a request made by all its workmen, including 21 returned'soldiers, for time off, and the manager threatened that, any man who did absent himself would find his position filled. The on© man wlio did absent himself has been suspended, while the manager has gone to Melbourne to consult with the directors on the matter.
