STATEMENT BY MAYOR.
LOAN AT END OF YEAR. Replying to a question asked by Councillor T. Forsyth at last night's meeting of the City Council, the Mayor (Mr R. A. AVright, M.P.) stated that he did not think it advisable to raise the loan necessary for the liquidation of tho city’s antecedent liability too soon. By leaving the matter till the end of the year the council would make a considerable saving in the matter of interest.
