ANNUAL COUNCIL

PROTESTANT POLITICAL TIONSESSION COMMENCED YESTERDAY. The fifth Dominion annual council commenced its session at the Esperanto Hall yesterday. there was a large ana representative attendance, the Mr Ewen McGregor, presiding. Reference was made Rf the decease at Sir Henry Wilson, and the following motion was -passed by a standing voter-v “That this council tenders to Lady Wilson its deepest sympathy in the bereave, ment which has befallen her through the death of her husband. The council records its profound sorrow at the deed which euded tho career of a noble Britisher who devoted hi* great abilities to the service of the Enrol re and to the Allies during the war, and to his loyal comrades in Ulstei against brutal and bigoted warfare." Special em« pha.-is was made to the approaching elections, and it was stated that definite plans were being arranged to support only candidates who were loyal to the Empire. Tbe operations of the association, it wag said, had been fraught, with much suooesn and the council was urged to renew their efforts on behalf of those principle* which were enunciated in the assertstion’s platform. The speakers in the discussion which followed were unanimous in thesr determination to place the principles of Protestantism in preference to the claims of anv party.
