A very fine feature of the Wintei Siuuv at Palmerston North was the agric iltural science exhibit bv tho pTilmerston North Boys’ High Echool. About fifty boys are taking the course under Mr J. .1. Stevenson, agricultural ma-tcr. The exhibit included mounted woods, with notes on value or otherwise; scientific instruments demonstrating how to ascertain the percentage of I'ut in any food, such as meals; the centralisation of acids; upward and downward movements of water in soil, with charts showing the movements; tho effects of different coloured lights oil plant growth; organisms of the soil; tho effects of fertilisers; water transportation in leaves of respiration and carbon fixation. The practical side was demonstrated by wonderful specimens of mangolds, carrots, parsnips and other root crops, and also articles of woodwork.
