MESSRS KELLER AND CORLETT. PER PRESS ASSOCTATIOX. TAUMARUNUI, June 27. The missing Public Works officers,' Mr Keller and Mr Corlett, have not yet been found, and there is no information so far from the Waimiha search party. A party searching from Taupo saw a fire fifteen miles distant, but it was then too dark to proceed further. No information has come from the search party sent from Mokai. A REASSURING TELEGRAM. It is said that the opinion 19 freely expressed in departmental circles in Wellington that Messrs P. Keller (resident Public Works engineer) and J. Corlett (road overseer) are quite safe, and that the telegraphed news is something in the form of a hoax, though probably not intentionally so. The following telegram in regard to their reported loss has been received by a local resident from Taumarunui: —“Latest advices indicate Mr Keller merely extending observations towards Mokai. Do not anticipate anything serious,, although search parties are out.” THOUGHT TO BE BUSHED. A message from Taumarunui Inst night states that there are still no tidings of Messrs Keller and Corlett, the men who are believed to be bushed between "Waimiha and Taupo. Mr Furkert, Engineer-in-CUief to the Publio Works Department, has arrived at Waimiha, and he will probably link up with the party that is searching. It appears that Corlett sprained hii> ankle recently, and it is thought that it may have given way again. PREARRANGED SIGNAL. MEN PROBABLY DISCOVERED. AUCKLAND, Juno 27. A message from Taupo states that a beacon, fifteen miles away, has been Lighted. As this was the prearranged signal of the finding of Messrs Keller and Corlett, .a launch has gone to investigate.
