SUTTER PRICES
INCREASES AT CHRISTCHURCH. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, June 26. The price® of butter have been advanced in Christchurch as from today. The rise in factory butter represents 2d per lb wholesale, the price having been increased to la 9d per lb, and the retail price is now Is lid per lb. Separator butter has been advanced from la 2d to Is 3d per lb wholesale. The further jump in prices on the London market is the reason for the revision of rate®. OFFICIAL QUOTATIONS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The High Commissioner cables, under date June 24th: Butter. —Owing to exceptional scarcity of spot supplies, prices have advanced rapidly. Official quotations are: New Zealand: June 24th, 224 sto 230 a per cwt (2s to 2s OJd per lb); June 17th, 196 s to 200 s per cwt (Is 9d to Is 9Jd per lb); June 10th, 178® to 182 s per cwt (Is 7d to Is 7sd per lb). Australian (salted): June 24th, 216 e to 222 s per cwt (Is lid to Is llfd per lb); June 17th, 192 s to 196 s per owt (Is Bjd to Is 9d per lb); June 10th, 172 s to 176 s per cwt (Is 6jd to Is 63d per lb). Australian (unsalted): June 24th, 216 s to 222 s per cwt (Is lid to Is lljd per lb); June 17th, 192 s to 194 s per cwt (Is BJd to Is 83d per lb); Juno 10th, 168 s to l)2s per cwt (Is 6d to Is 6Jd per lb). Argentine: June 24th 208 sto 218 s per owt (Is 10fd to Is llid per lb). Danish: June 24th, 220 sto 230 s per cwt (Is llid to 2s Ofd per lb); June 17th, 200 s to 206 s per cwt (is 9Jd to Is lOd per lb); June 10th, 184 s to 190 s per cwt (Is 73d to Is Sid per lb). MARKET BARE. The Bank of New Zealand is advised from London, under date Juno 23rd, as follows: —- “Butter.—Market exceptionally bare of stocks. 230 s per cwt. “Cheese.—Firm. Coloured 98s to 102 s per owt; white, 100 b to 102 a per owt.” Mcbsts Rowson, Hodgson advise their local representative by cable dated London, Juno 23rd, as follows: “New Zealand butter, nominal, 2305; cheese, white, 104 s; coloured, 102 s. ‘KEEN OFFERS. Keen offers for August and September shipments, comprising butter produced during tho first two months of tihe new season, have been made (states tho “Now Zealand Herald”), tho offers, it is stated, being equal to Is 7id f.0..b. This is taken as indicating that the market 'will continue strong until Christmas.
