CLYDE ENGINEERING WORKS IO CLOSE. ONE THOUSAND WORKERS AFFECTED. * Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 1, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 1. Tho managemeut of tho Clyde engineering works have decided to close the works next week, rendering a thousand employees idle.' The reason given is the inability of the company to secure additional money from the Government on tho looomotive manufacturing contract, which the company would otherwise be unable to carry out.
