Spence, barrister and accountant, has been ajipointed for a period of one year to reorganise tho Government Printing Office. The present senior inspector of tho Public Service Board, Air W. Brooks, a Legislative Councillor and master printer, was recently commissioned to inquire into the workings of the department, and’ reported that tho business) is too costly, owing to the generous concessions to employees in the shape of sick pay, holidays, and xhort working week, , and increased salaries based on the length of ser-, vice instead of. on efficiency.
