ST. LAWRENCE SHIP CANAL. Australian and N-Z. Cable tTicistloit (Received May 30, 11.5 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 29. The Hon. William King. Premier of Canada, announced that the Dominion Government docs not consider the present an opportune time for the negotiation of a treaty with the United States for the St. Lawrence ship canal to tho Great Lakes. A former cablegram stated that Premier Taschareau. of Quebec, had appealed to Premier King, of Canada, to prevent the negotiation of a treaty with the United States for the St.. Lawrence ship canal to the Great Lakes. Taschereau said the project would give Canadian resources to tho Americans.
