COMMUNITY SINGING

MR C. E. WEBB LEADS TO-DAY. Tho big Town Hall will be the hon.e of the ninth “sing” this Wednesday, and the committee wish it known thatthere will not be any song sheets available, so all attending are requested to take along the official song book, for the song leader, Mr C. E. Webb, has arranged a special programme of songs known to all. Mr Webb being one of the promoters of the “sings” here, knows just what the public want, and it is his intention to keep the audience singing. He will be assisted by Mies Dorothy Mills and Mr Howard Foster. Now that the school holidays are over there will be many more seats available for the business people. CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY SINGING. For some time it has been felt that children should have an opportunity of taking part in community singing. There is nothing sweeter than a massed gathering of children singing, and the Boys’ Institute intend inaugurating a sing-song for children commencing on Friday evening next. The “sing’’ will be held in conjunction with the picture entertainment, and the words of the songs will be shown on the screen by means of lantern slides. The soloist will bo Mr Ernest Jones, late of the Annette Kellerman Company, who will render the baritone solo “Till the Sands of the Desert Grow Cold.” Mr Harry Wilson will have .charge of the “sing,” and it is expected that there will be a large attendance.
