The Right Rev. D. Dutton, F.R.A.S., Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, is visiting New Plymouth. Mr Dutton is the senior chaplain of tho New Zealand Forces and was with the troops during the European, war with the title of colonel.

Mr A. N. Haggitt. LL.B., who hag been associate to his Honour Mr Justice Sim for thp past two years, was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court, at Dunedin. He will join the Dunedin, firm of Messrs White, Ramsay, and Bar-] rowclough, which will in future be known as Messrs White, Ramsay, Bar-; rowclough and Haggitt. Harry Shortie, aged 93. and 'Junmv^, McDonnell, aged 89, residents of Marti nv borough, both served before the mask during the Crimean campaign. The former was in the sloop Agamemnon in 1854, and returned in the Chesapeake In 1856, later serving in the Indian Mutiny; and the latter served in the ship Anc, Commander McLeod, and went out in. 1852, and returning in 1855, saw further service in the China war.

The funeral of the lato Mr Edward John von Dadelszen, formerly RegistrarGeneral, who died at Wellington on Sundav, took place at the Karori cemetery yesterday. An impressive funeral service was conducted at St. Paul's ProCathedral at 11 a.m. by the Venerable Archdeacon Calder, who later officiated at the graveside. The funeral ceremony was witnessed by the widow and three daughters of the deceased and a large number o? his personal friend*.

Mr Frank Dye, of Kaukapakapa, a well-known figure in Queen street, Auckland. died at. the age of To years. He was born in Suffolk, England, and came to New Zealand with his parents whoa 13 years of age. settling with his father, the late 3Lr G. Dye, at Kaukapakapa. He’served with tho militia during the Maori War. and later returned to Kaukapakapa, where he started business as a general storekeeper, gum and timber merchant, in which he continued for Iho remainder of his life. He served for a long time on various public bodies, brine for some years chairman of the Waifemata County Council, secret.
