PERSONAL AND GENERAL. (Special to "N.Z. Times.") OTAKI, Tuesday. Football continues brisk and in the senior division three teams Levin, * Manakau, and Foxton —are level, each winning four games out of five. Parapa raumu leads in the junior division and Manakau in the third grade. The children's fancy dress ball at Ot&ki was a brilliant affair, the* many pretty and novel dresses proving most attractive. Several adults also 1 wore fancy costumes, and helped to amuse the smaller folk. •* Mr Robert Horn, the well-known breeder of Jersey cattle, has purchased Mt T. H. Powles farm at Kuku, The Kuku Cheese Company is at present manufacturing 14 export chectw per day. A chapter of accidents occurred during the week Mr Len Evans slipped on some concrete and severely injured himself. Messrs Bruoe Knox and Ken Bishop gashed their feet severely with axes, while a horse kicked Mr Ken. Pullman and broke his leg. Mr G. Alex. Monk has been re-elected chairman of the Horowhenua County Council. The funeral of the. late Mr C. Bell took place at Otaki to-day and was largely attended. A movement is on foot to put the Otaki library on a better footing. At prerent it -is very short of funds. The Wellington Municipal Braes Band played several fine selections at the Otaki Sanatorium on Sunday. A collection realised nearly JJlh. In consequence of a further fall of enow on the ranges the weather is much colder.
