YESTERDAY’S CASES. POLICE PROSECUTIONS. The police cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday occupied only a email amount of the time of Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M. For drunkenness, one first offender was dealt with in the usual manner,\ and Thomas Joseph McGrath was fined 20s, in default three days’ imprisonment. CIVIL CASES. Palmer was ordered to pay J. Chambers and Son 9, Ltd., the sum of £ls Us lid by June 20th, or serve ten days in gaol. BY-LAW CASES. MISCELLANEOUS CHARGES. Sisty by-law cases comprised the list placed before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., for action. H. W. Brown was fined amounts totalling 20s for having no tail or head lights on a motor-car. B. Davis was fined amounts totalling 10s on similar counts. For driving on the wrong side of Moles, worth street, both E. M. Glennie and C. H. Massey were fined 20s and costs. J. Pye, E. F. Richardson, and C. Rushbrook, on charges of leaving motor-cars unattended, were fined 10a, ss, and 20s respectively. In respect to the ’astnamed it was stated that the man had left the car there for two days. Sergeant Swiney: The owner said he bad beon doing business in town, and gone home entirely forgetting the car. (Laughter.) Fines aggregating 10s were imposed upon A. Seed for having no tail or head lights on a motor-car. T. Sherlaw was fined 5s and costs for driving on the wrong side of Molesworth street. F. G. Wallburton was fined 10s for allowing his motor-oar to obstruct a publio place. An accumulation of dead fish at his place in Island Bay was responsible for 1 a fine of 30s and costs being imposed uaftn H. A. Maddock. M. J. Ryan was ordered to pay costs only for failing to comply with a cleansing. order. For having an unregistered dog, F. Rumblo was ordered to pay costs only, 7s. On each of five charges of having an unregistered dog, John Tafts was ordered to pay costs only, 7s. For allowing stock to wander, Harry Mumme was fined 40s and costs, Norman Kelly was fined 10s and costs, John Kilby was similarly treated, E. Hadley was fined amounts totalling 45s on three charges of allowing stock to wander. For allowing stock to wander, Thomas Monahan was fined 20s and costs, William Smith 10s and costs, Charles Spiers 10s and costs, William Wood lock 20b and costs, James Wright 20s, George Se’by was similarly charged, hut ho took exception to the evidence tendered by inspector Greek telling the latter not to "make it too hot” and ‘‘to toll the truth.” He was fined 10« and costs. John James Boyd was fined 7s and costs for failing to make provision for the discharge of stormwater. For failing to keen the floor of lis butcher’s shop, at Miramar, in a clean condition, Leonard E. Cook was fined 10s. Rosina Ingram was finod amounts totalling 20s for committing a breach of the sanitary by-laws. Arthur Power who. until recently, had usM the Colosseum Skating Rink before a license was issued, was ordered to pay costs only, 7s.
