NEEDLESS ALARM
QUEEN MARY AND HER DIAMONDS. Australian and NZ. Cable Association. LONDON, May 28. Theatre-goers at Covent Garden last night witnessed the unique spectacle of the Queen, Princess Alice of York, Ihe Lord Chamberlain, and members of the Royal suite minutely searching the footpath, the gutter, and the interior of their car for some diamonds which were believed io be missing from the Queen’s necklace, which had snapped a moment before Oblivious of the onlookers, the Royal party continued the search for several minutes, and then the Queen gave it up, and went inside, the others following shortly afterwards. Then the Queen counted her diamonds, and found that none were missing.
