INFECTIOUS DISEASES
IN WELLINGTON DISTRICT. RETURNS FOR THE PAST WEEK. The infections diseases returns for the Wellington health district for the eight days ended April 10th are as follow: — Palmerston North—Scarlet fever, 2; diphtheria, 7; tuberculosis, 2; varicella, 6. ■Wellington—Seal-let fever, 1; dipb- i theria, 4j tuberculosis, I; puerperal septicaemia, 1; varicella, 23; pneumonia, 4; erysipelas, 2. Wairarapa—Diphtheria, 2; polimye. litis, I; hydatis, 1. Woman—Scarlet fever, 1; varicella; I. Picton —Varicella. 4. Nelson—Diphtheria, 1. The totals are:—Scarlet fever, 4; diphtheria, 14; tnbcrculosis, 3;. poliomyelitis. 1; puerperal sept:caemia,_ 1; pneumonia, 4; varicella, 33; erysipelas, 2; hydatis. 1. Compared with the previous week, there is a reduction of six in the cases of scarlet fever, an increase of four in diphtheria, and an increase of 17 in varicella.
