- PORT NICHOLSON CLUB. SATURDAY’S EVENT. The Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club held a senes of races last Saturday in a fresh nor -west breeze, the majority of yachts carrying foil .sail. , ' FIRST-CLASS YACHTS. In the first-class race the follqpring yachts started:—Marangi (sea-). Bona (2J min), Kotiri 11. (6min),Wairere (6smin), (Ailsa (9min), Viola (12min). Marangi took the lead at the start and maintained it to the soathern blinker, but on the windward work was overtaken by Rona. Bona rounded the Somes rock buoy first, followed by Marangi, Wairer 11., Kotiri, Ailso, Viola, in that order. The Rona crossed the finishing line eight seconds ahead of Marangi. Throughout the race Wairere 11. and Kotiri 11. had a neck and neck "go," the Kotiri finally crossing the line a length ahead of Wairere. On corrected times the race was won by Wairere, with Kotiri second. Thefinishinf; times were as follow: — Marangi, actual sailing time 3hr lmin 15sec, corrected time £hr lmin 15sec. Rona, 3hr lmin 7sec, and 4hr 58min 87sec. Kotiri, 3hr 2min 47sec, and 4hr 56min 47seo. Wairere, 3hr 3min, and 4hr 56men SOsec. Ailsa, 3hr lOmin *sec, and shi lmin 4sec. Viola, 3hr I4min 25sec, and shr 2min Essec. Wanderer, White Heather and Atalanta did not start. SECOND-CLASS YACHTS. The second-class trace, in which sis yachts started, resulted in an easy and very popular win for Mr W. Blair’s Kawene. The starters were:—Galatea (scr), Romp (4), Windward (9), Wylo (9), Kawene (22), Muritai (2*7. Rawene was Ur6t across the starting line, with all the other yachts dose astern. Galatea drew away soon after the start, but Romp, with spinnacker 6«t, caught her when nearing the blinker. Windward set a spinnacker on the run down the channel, but both it and tho mainsail seemed to develop the gybing habit. On the beat to windward Galatea and Muritai worked the eastern shore, while the others stood into Karaka Bay. "Rawene and Wylo had a good tussel on the slog up to Soames rock, Rawene leading the Wylo until within a few hundreayards of the buoy. The order in rounding the buoy was— Romp, Galatea, Wylo, Rawene. Windward,! Muritai. Running to the finishing line, Galatea passed Romp, the position of tho other yachts being the same as at Somes rock. On corrected time Rawene wins, with Wylo second, and Muritai third. The corrected finishing times were:— 1 Rawene, 4hr 50min, 1 ; Wylo, 4hr 59xnin 20sec, 2; Muritai, 4hr 56min 42soc, 3; Windward shr 2min seee, Romp shr 2min 25sec, Galatea shr smin lOsec. a Venus and Sea Bird did not start. FOURTEEN FOOTERS.

The fourteen-footer race for the Clark and Morris trophy was won by Mr Johnson's Coo-ee, whose fine windward work was the feature of the race.- The results were:—Coo-ee (3min), corrected finishing time 3hr 59min 12sec, l; Claire (scr), 4hr lmin 53sec, 2; Mahau (10), 4hr Bnr!n 55sec; Poneke (1), 4hr 12min 57see.
