FORMER'S PROMISING POSITION. MATCH AT ICELBURN PARK. Old Boys met Thomion under favourable weather conditions at Kelburn Park on Saturday. The ex-collegians batted first, and though tho first wicket fell for tho modest total of 21 runs. Lambert scoring only 11 before King tempted him to step across the wicket,

the second peg saw 131 up on the board by a partnership between Konaldson and Duncan. Batting for* over an hour Ronaldson made 51 by fine cricket, and Duucan, playing in his customary forceful style, piled up 56, including eight fours and two sixes before sent home by Christopherson. Barclay followed with 24, and Trott contributed 28 to the scoring, account. “Mr Extra" was a useful eleventh man with 31 to his credit. The innings closed for 240 runs. With the light already failing Thorndon journeyed to the crease. Their opening was inglorious. McKellar was ‘bowled when the score stood at 12, Tilyard followed him seven runs later, and Christopherson’s wicket fell with a total of 84 on the board. Eighteen more runs saw Brook beaten by a swinger from Barclay, and one more run witnessed Tarrant beaten by the opening ball of an over by Tucker. A further six runs and McColl brought off a low catch from the same over, sending Doneghue back to the pavilion. Stumps were drawn a few minutes later with six wickets down for 60 runs.
