There were one or two rather good (bowling performances in. the cricket matches played on Saturday. For Midland against Hutt, Judd took 4 -wickets for 18 runs and Patrick secured two without cost, while for Tharndon against Y.M.C.A. Watson took 3 for 29. There were also several good performances in the junior grade games. The Manuka anchored: in the stream yesterday five hours ahead *of the R.'M.S. Marama, though the vessel started with a handicap of an hour. The Manuka, from Sydney, arrived at 7 a.m. The Mhrama arrived at. noon. Both vessels left Sydney last Thursday morning, the Marama sailing at 10 o’clock and the Manuka clearing the port at 11.15. Although the former reuse! hod over an.hour’s start, she was passed by the Manuka at 3 o'cloak on Thursday afterraoonj, and ' the latter vessel kept the lead for the remainder *f the voyage-
