THREE LOAN PROPOSALS CARRIED. rMTt ; Htf , ffff.-tr.T* now TIMARU, July 28. Foils of the ratepayers of Timaru taken to-day on three loan proposals resalted: • Waterworks improvement (£10,000) —For, 733; against, 384. Additional motor ’bus (£3ooo)—For, 681; against, 443. Electric light, new reticulation and improvement (£500,000) —For, 586; against, 525. A plebiscite was also taken to test the opinion of the people on the question of the borough joining with the Canterbury Electric Power Board. This resulted: 535 for, and 586 against. This has no real value, as a motion must be made by petition. Only a fourth of the ratepayers voted.
