THE WELLINGTON BOARD. BUSINESS TRANSACTED AT MONTHLY MEETING. The Wellington Hospital Board met yesterday, when there were present Messrs F. Castle (chair), J. W. * Butler, C. H. Chapman, W. T. Cotton, J. Glover, A. R. Hornblow, A. J. MbOurdy, J. W. McEwao, G. Nash, G. Petlieriok, E. Vine, E- \Yidley, Mrs McVicar, Mrs Snow, and Rev. Dr. J. K. Elliott. Accounts amounting to £8763 2s 6d were passed for payment. The following resolutions- ot the property and policy committee were adopted:— “That the further sum of £I2OO received from the estate of the late -James Powell, together with the previous instalment of £1750, be placed on fixed deposit. The first instalment amounting to £2500 with the Government subsidy of £SOO has been placed on deposit and is set aside for proposed additions at the Nurses’ Home. ‘ ‘That the bonus of three farthings per hour allotted under the recent award to the carpenters be paid as from November, 1020.” “That, with reference to the request of the honorary staff to be consulted as occasion requires by the board and the medical superintendent in regard to the management’ of the institution, the honorary staff be invited to send a representative, to attend the hospital committee in an advisory position, and that they be asked to nominate their member in order that notices of- meetings may be forwarded to him. Tie . Directoa'-General of Hospitals is to be informed that it was decided at a meeting to recommend the board to have a representative of the honorary, staff as a member of the hospital committee.” “That consent be given to the. executors of the Guilford estate to raise sufficient money by way of second mortgage, in order to pay tho legacies an the Johnsonville property, provided that the term is limited to two years.” • “That the returns of receipts and payments for the month and for the quarter ended June 30th, be adopted. The disbursements show an excess of £922 over the estimates for the quarter. HOSPITAL COMMITTEE. The following recommendations of the hospital committee were adopted:— “That, per the director of the Boys’ Institute (Mr J. W. Butler), a contribution of £4O has been received from the boys and their friends towards the purchase of a piano and a billiard-dining-table for use of the inmates of the Ewatt hospital for consumptives. Sister M: E. Brown, in charge of the •Swart hospital, has, received from friends contributions amounting to £8 11s lOd. The Ewart hospital piano fund, including Government subsidy, amounts to £144 19s 9d. It is recommended that tho purchase of the piano and the billiard-table bo held over until sufficient moneys are to hand for that purpose.” “That the Macarthy Convalescent Homo sub-committee met at the homo and authorised ploughing and discing Cup to £6) front paddock, and the labourer gardener he paid an additional 6s par weak in liau of meals.”
