ARREARS OF RENT
ALLEGED DAMAGE TO PROPERTY LANDLORD SUES TENANT. Before Mr B. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court, yesterday, Joseph Boucher (Mr J. A. Scott), proceeded against J. Hubbera, of 108, Holloway road, Mitchelltown, watersider (Mr A. B. Sierwright) for the dbm of £76 10k. Boucher's statement of claim set forth the causes of action as being rental of a house at Ballina Bay, Wellington, which the defendant had occupied as tenant at a payment of 27s 6d per week, of which four weeks' rent up to March loth, 1921, remained unpaid. On that date, it was stated, defendant went into occupation of another house, of which the plaintiff was lessee, and for which he agreed to pay a rental of 30s per week. None of this rent bad been paid, and there was owing to June 21st fourteen weeks’ lent, a total of £2l. Also, it was alleged, the defendant had wilfully damaged the premises, rendering extensive repairs necessary, and for this the plaintiff claimed the sum of £6O. a total of £76 10s.
After hearing evidence, the case was adjourned till to-day.
