A NARROW ESCAPE
MAN RESCUED FROM THE HARBOUR. AN EARLY MORNING EPISODE. About 1 o’clock this morning- an alarm was given on the waterfrqnt that there wae a man overboard .at the Tarariaki street wharf. Members of the Harbour Board staff and Constable Cosgrove ran to the scene where a man was seen struggling in the water. Two men clambered down on to 1 one of the stringers, passed a rope round the drowning man’s body, and in a few moments no was hauled up on to the wharf. " He was hastily carried to the wharf office and Constable Cosgrove applied first add until the arrival of Dr ' Whyte. The doctor examined the man, who wae much improved in condition and oTdered hie removal to the hospital. The man’s name is Minor Bjomshange and ihe is a native of Denmark, about 24 years ef age. He was not in a state to give an account of himself.
