The fourth test match was begun at Manchester. The weather was cloudy. The rain overnight had made the wicket slow and dead. Mayne, Mailey, Ryder, and Oldfield were omitted from the Australian team. The English team is: —Tennyson (captain), Douglas, Fender, Ernest Tvldesiey, Hallows, Parkin, Russell, Mead, Parker, Woolley, Brown. Tennyson won the toss and England batted, Russell arid Brown opening to the bowling of Gregory and McDonald. The soore is no wickets for 30 runs. Russell 17, Brown 13. SUG3ESTION BY MR WARNER . It is rumoured that such may be played at Eastbourne at the end of August, with Mr McLaren captaining the ’varsities.
