AN ELOPING COUPLE
A RUDE AWAKENING. Two young people appeared before Mr F. K- Hunt, S.M., yesterday morning tq answer a self-laid charge of having insufficient means of support. • - According to the police, the boy and girl had eloped from Christchurch three weeks.ago, and come to Wellington, where .their money rah out. Accordingly, they had walked into the police station and asked shelter for the night. The police applied for a remand to Friday next, in qrder that Inquiries might be made in Christchurch.
The young man stated that he had work awaiting him shortly, and intended marrying the girl, and the magistrate decided to commit them to the care of the Salvation Army till Friday.
