THE CITY LOAN
STEADY PREPARATION MAYOR MAY MAKE A STATEMENT SHORTLY. , THE WAY NOW CLEAR. As is generally known, the Wellingon City Council proposes to go on tho market shortly for a considerable Joan. Of late rather little has been n'&rd of the matter, but when the Mayor (Mr R. A. Wright, M.P.) was ipproiched yesterday he indicated that preparation was proceeding steadily and that he might be in a position by next oouneir meeting to make 'an announcement. Qi’itc recently the fact that the New Zealand Government had not got its - ’ loan was standing in the way of the city’s venture, for until it got its money the Government would not give permission for Wellington to go on the leondon market. The Mayor said yesterday that that difficulty had been removed now, and the wav was clear. The city’s security i« .considered excellent, and a well-known mernlier of the Cabinet is Baid to have observed tiiat it is really better than the State’s.
