DISASTROUS EFFECT ON POSTi WAR RECOVERY. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. WASHINGTON, July 7. The Democratic minority, which is opposing the Fordney tariff, has issued a statement, pointing out that this is not the time to write a tariff, which cannot remedy the fast-disap-pearing foreign trade, the collapsing internal commerce,, and the unprecedented idleness and unemployment. The statement' adds that partisan politics lias strangled the one opportunity the world had to settle down in harness, and repair the * destruction and loss caused by war, and was now attempting to hurt the world in another way.
