DEATH OF MESSENGER, INQUEST ON ALBERT GEORGE . CAINES. The inquest upon Albert GeOrge Caine 6, a widower, 52 years Of age, who expired suddenly in his home at 4.30 a.m. on Tuesday, was conducted by. Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday. Francis Hendry, a resident at 193, Tinakori road, room-mate of the deceased, gave evidence that he had known deceased'for four years at the front and i» New Zealand, Caines had been complaining of ill-health for some time. He retired to bed at 10 p.m. on the 9th inst. in good spirits. At 4.30 a.m. on the following morning witness was awakened by sounds oi distress from deceased, who turned on the light, staggered, and fell on his. bed. Witness had brought the landlady, and a doctor had been sent for, but Caines was dead when he arrived. Charles Mortis Hector, medical practitioner, stated that death waa due to a burst blood-vessel, and the coroner found. a verdict accordingly. DEATH OF MRS JACKSON. "NATURAL CAUSES. At hie roome yesterday, Mr W. G. Riddell, S.^I V conducted the inqUest upon the body of Jennie Jackson, a widpw, 28 years of age, who expired suddenly at her residence in Park road, Miramar, on Tuesday. Margaret Broome gave evidence that she had known deceased for seven years. The late Airs Jackson had lived ■ with her* since February 19th last. Deceased did not appear to be ill, and had not complained of illness. She had retired at 9.15 p.m. on the night in question, and about 3 a.m. witness was awakened by deceased, who complained of a pain in her shoulder. Witness massaged her, and left her about 3.30 a.m. At 7.45, owing to the deceased failing to appear, flue went up to her room end. found her lying upon the bed. &he eummoned her husband, And I>r Olay was called in at once, but upon arrival he pronounced life extinct. The statement of Dr, C. Slaxris Hector was to the effect that the cause of death was acute euphritis supervening upon chronic euphritis. The coroner returned a verdict accordingly.
