PLEA FOR MORE LIBERAL THEOLOGY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, May 11. At the opening session of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Mr Edwards, the new Moderator, in his inaugural address, strongly pleaded for a more liberal theology to meet present-day needs. He declared that our Gospel was the Gospel of Life, and our doctrines must not be a' repetition of the forms of expression that were made what they are by controversies and question once living, but now dead, if organised Christianity was te retain its hold upon the educated people and regain ~ the hold it .had lost, it must have a theology which, when challenged, could prove itself to bo advancing with human knowledge and the development of moral consciousness.
