PROMOTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS, The following promotions and appoint, meets in the Public Trust Office are announced:— Air W. AL Barr, chief inspector, Wellington. , Mr H. Turner, chief accountant. Wet ling ton. Mr A. R. Jordan, local Deputy FnUh Trustee, Christchurch. Mr G. H. EUiffe, local Deputy Publis Trustee, Dunedin. Mr N. At- Chestney, local Deupty Public Trustee, Blenheim. Mr W. AL Barr, who succeeds Mr M. C. Barnett as chief inspector, is a wellknown officer of the public service, haring been stationed in the head office of the Public 'Trust Office sinoe his appointment as cadet in 1594. He has from time to time filled the positions of chief examiner, chief accountant, and inspector, and has served under six Public Trustees. Mr H. Turner’s appointment to the position of chief' accountant is consequent on the transfer of Mr P. D. Verschaflelt to the position of Assistant Public Service Commissioner. Mr Turner, who is a qualified accountant by examination, joined the head office of the Public Trust Department as a cadet on February 13th, 1899, and was stationed in Wellington until 1909, when he was transferred to Christchurch. He returned to Wellington in September, 1911, since when he has successively filled the position,? of chief examiner, assistant accountant, controller of the wills, trusts and agencies division, and inspector. He was absent on active service from May 13th, 1917, until April 15th, 1919.
