The United Press Agency is authoritatively informed that the United States Government desires Germany to accept the Allies’ latest reparations demand. BERLIN, May 9. The Premiers of all the German States have been summoned to Berlin to participate in deliberations regarding the ultimatum. The parties in the Reichstag will decide their attitude to-day. The resolution concludes: “The fulfilment of the ultimatum depends principally upon the readiness of citizens to make sacrifices. Mr Renwick, writing from Berlin, detailing the campaign for the recapture of the world’s markets, says the workers everywhere are showing the will to work. Massed propaganda in favour of increased production has borne good fruit. The cost of living has increased ten fold since' before the war, but wages scales have been established since the revolution under which there is one rate for bachelors, plus housing and children’s allowances for married men. This scale is operating successfully. Mr Renwick insists that increasing prosperity enables Germany to meet the indemnity payments.
