AN UNDESIRABLE?

Newton, a native of Dunedin, was detained by Customs officers on the Riverina when she arrived to-day. Ho has been aboard sirice the vessel left New Zealand, where he was not per- ; mitted to land as he refused to take ■ the oath of allegiance, which he con- : tends woe introduced during liis ab sence. He denies that he is disloyal, [ but states that his conscience will not . permit him ’to take the oath either here or in New Zealand.
