A statement has been issued on behalf of the trade that it is possible experts will detect a difference between cultured and uncultured pearls. Two prominent dealers paid £20,000 each for parcels of the cultured article. There were remarkable scenes in the West End, jewellers being besieged from the early morning by faehion-ably-attired women, anxious to learn whether their pearls axe genuine.
