CULTURED PEARLS
THE JAPANESE INVASION OF LONDON, ' MUCH PERTURBATION. Published in "The Times.” (Received May 7, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 6. The question of Japanese oultured pearls continues to causo much unrest among jewel dealers. A statement has been issued on behalf of the trade that it is possible experts will detect a difference between cultured and uncultured pearls. Two prominent dealers paid £20,000 each for parcels of the cultured article. There were remarkable scenes in the West End, jewellers being besieged from the early morning by faehion-ably-attired women, anxious to learn whether their pearls axe genuine.
