The acceptable sum .of £920 2s 6d for special comforts for the consumptive soldiers at Bedford Park and Myrtle Bank (South Australia) was realised'in December by the auction of a beautiful silk ensign, autographed by Dord .Tellicoe. Mr Sidney Kidman eventually remained in possession of the treasure, having bid up to 210 guineas for it. An interesting example of the ready translation of war ind-istries to peace purposes is afforded by the explosives manufacturers of Great Britain. They include more than 100 firms which have formed a combination to produce not only explosives for blasting and kindred purposes and ammunition of all kinds bat bicycles, gas mantles, brass and copper ware, leather, and a large sztoud of industrial collection*
