BROWN BREAD OR WHITE P MINISTER’S REPLY. Dr A. K. Newman asked the Minister for Agriculture in the House yesterday if, in view of the coming rise in the price of bread, he would have the flour ground in such a manner that the present 25 per cent, waste would be avoided. If he did he would help families with small means, and, moreover, the bread would he more wholesome. The Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. W. Nosworthy) said the matter was one for the Minister in charge of the Board of Trade. However, he could say that experiments were made last year, and it would he possiblo to carry out the suggestion conveyed in the question, but, with the assured supplies of wheat, he did not think it would he necessary to put tho people on brown bread. „ Dr Newman: Wholemeal bread is the more wholesome.
