LAND AGGREGATION
QUESTION RESPECTING THE RANGITIKEI.
In the House of Representatives yesterday the attention of ’ the Minister for Lands was drawn by Mr L., Newman to a published statement that land aggregation had been proceeding in the Rangftikei. As subdivision had been going on there for years and the district was one of small farmers, Mr Newman regarded the statement as contrary to fact. The Minister (the Hon. D. H. Guthrie) agreed entirely with Mr Newman as to the facts. Cases of aggregation in that district had been reported. They had been investigated, and no case had been found in which the Government or anyone else could intervene. In the Rangitikei subdivision was in progress, and if aggregation was reported to him he would investigate it.
