BOYS 9 INSTITUTE
ATHLETIC SPORTS. The first sports gathering in connectoin -with the Boys’ Institute Athletic Club will take place on Saturday at the Athletic Park, which has been lent for the occasion by the Rugby Union. The programme is a large and varied one, and given a fine afternoon the attendance is sure to be a large one. _ There will be competition for champion cups for juniors, intermediate and senior boys, the distances being 100 and 220 yards. In addition the programme will comprise a quarter and half mile championships. and a hArriers’ race to Island Bay and back, to finish on the grounds. Thj. primarv schools championship is attracting a great deal of Interest, and the entries from the various schools will be large. The events for this will include 100 and 230 yards, os well as a high jump, and throwing the cricket ball, and the school securing the largest number of points will hold the cup for the year. In addition there will be a six a-side Soccer competition, and a seven a-side Rugby competition for donated by the Wellington Rngby “Union.
