MAGISTRATE’S COURT

CASES HEARD YESTERDAY. POLICE AND CIVIL BUSINESS. Police ceases were disposed of by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M.. who occupied- the bench yesterday. For four first offender:, were dealt with in the usual manner. Patrick Faliey, with one previous conviction against him, was fined IQs, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. John Gould was fined 20s, in default three days' in gaol on making a third appearance for drunkenness. Margaret Williams was convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness, and was sentenced to twelve months' reformative treatment on ’a charge of being an incorrigible rogue, having insufficient means of support. John Lawrence Sullivan was remanded to appear at Auckland on February 16th to answer a charge of failing to comply with the terms of his release upon probation a t Auckland on June 14th, 1918. CIVIL CASES. Sitting in his civil jurisdiction, Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., gave jurgxnent for plaintiff by default in each of the following undefended civil cases:— J. Ewart v. Rashleagh was ordered to pay Veatch and Allan the sum of £l3 14s 6d by February 24th or serve ten days in gaol. E. O'Sullivan to pay Eastbourne Mutual Stores, Ltd., £lB 19s 8d by February 24th or go to gaol for fourteen days. J. Paul to pay Veitch and Allan £6 Is 6d by February 24th or serve twentyfour hours' imprisonment. TENEMENT CASE. In a tenement 6ase J. Dotchin was ordered by Air F. K. Hunt. S.M., to give up possession of a tenement to lan A. Mac Kay and to pay costs amounting to £2 Is.
