MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. VARIOUS MATTERS DEALT WITH The fortnightly meeting of the City Council was held evening, the Mayor, Mr J. P. Luke. - * presiding. Authority was granted for the City Valuer to undertake each year, under the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920. the valuation of new buildings and other improvement, in the city, since the date of the general revision of the valuation roll by the Valuer-General. This will expedite the correction of the local valuation roll and enable rates to be struck earlier in the year than hitherto'. The'council approved the request of the Wellington Gricket Association for telephone extension from the custodian’s residence. Basin Reserve, to the pavilion, and also for the erection of a scoring board at the south-eastern corner of the reserve, subject' to th» board being erected to the satisfaction of the City Engineer.
