THE LAST SALES. LOW PRICES RULING. At the auction sate for. sheepskins, bides and tallow sale prices generally ruled lower than usual. Reports have been received from various firms holding sales, and from these it is ascertained that prices ruled a s under:— Sheepskins—Half bred. 7d; » fine eroeshred. 4Jd to 5Jd; medium and coarse crossbred, 2d to 4jd; short to half-wools. Id to 4d; lambs, 2d to 4d • dead and damaged crossbred, lid to 3fd; inferior and badly damaged, id to 4Jd; pelts, id to 2Jd; damp, salted, and green, Id to 5-9 d; pelts, salted, 6d to Jd; lambs, salted, 6d to l-9d. Hides.—Ox, heavy, 591 b up, 8d to 12d; ot. medium. 50 to 58. 7d to 9id; ox. light. 491 b and under, 3d to 6jd; cow, heavy, 551 b and over (no quote); cow, medium, 421 b to 541 b, 4d to 6sd; cow, light, under 421 b 4idto6id; cut, slippyami inferior. Id to 6d; bull, stag, lid to 2id; yearlings (ll)b to 321 b), !tyd to 71dcalf, superior (up to 101 b), lljd to 13Jd; calf, medium to good (|up to 10 lb). 4Jd to 13id; calf, damaged (up to 101 b), Id to 6|d. Tallow.—Market was lifeless. In cask?, 235; in tins, etc.. 15s. Sundries. —Horse hair, 24Jd; tails 9d Below will be found the various reports from firms conducting the sales-. LEVIN AND COMPANY. A fair number of buyers were present, but there was little confidence in their operations, and on the whole sellers had to meet a more unfavourable market than was the case a fortnight ago. Heavy hide* declined Jd to ljd, except super lines for export, which remained firm at last sale prices. Light hides declined id to Id. Calfskins were a fraction firmer, but there was no demand whatever for inferior descriptions. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. At the auction sal-re fair sized catalogues were submitted to a good attendance of buyers Prices were again low, and only be-t quality skins and hides elicited any competition.
