GRANTS TO SOLDIERS
MEETING OF REPATRIATION BOARD. The Repatriation Board at its last meeting dealt with a number of soldiers’ applications for financial assistance. Mr T. S. Weston presided. Nine applications weri made by men who are receiving tuition on State farms and at technical schools. Of the number seven were approved and _ two declined, while tuition fees were paid in seven cases and one case was refused. It was decided to approve of three applications for deferred subsidy payments to men who had completed their course of training. Thirty-six applications were received far grants towards the purchase of furniture, and thirty-three were ‘granted, one application being deferred, one declined, while one was withdrawn. For monetary assistance to engage in business seventeen applications were made. The board granted five, deferred four and declined eight. There was only one application for assistance to purchase tools of trade. It was granted, as was assistance to a returned soldier who desired to return to ’Wales.
