UNREGISTERED BARMAID
OONVIOTED AND FINED. LICENSEE'S "BONA FIDES. That she was not a registered barmaid and yet had worked in a bar at Barrett’s Hotel ws not denied by Base Ellen McMahon (Mr F. J. O’Began), when she wan chaoqred with the offence before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M. at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The licensee of the hotel, David Dalton, was also charged with employing an unregistered barmaid. There were three chargee against each defendant. It was stated that Miss McMahon possessed a registration certificate which had been made out in her mother’s name, Ellen McMahon, and that she thought she was entitled to it. A fine of £2 was imposed on one charge, and convictions only were recorded m respect of each of the other two informations. Mr >l. Myers submitted, on behalf ci Mr Dalton, that there was no intention to offend on his part. The name on the certificate corresponded with a naras on the list of registered barmaids.’ Defendant had taken every possible precaution to ensure that he was not employing a person who was not registered The chargee were dhsniased.
