Presiding over tho Magistrate's Court yesterday, Mr J. S. Evans, S.M. dealt with a number, of offenders aa follows:—-Elizabeth _ Kilminster and John Sharpe, previous offenders, were each fined 10s, An old man of 72 named Richard Dunn appeared charged with being a rogue and vagabond. It was stated that the old man "Should not remain at the Old Men's Home and was on one occasion found searching refuse bins in order to sustain himself. Hia Worship said it was a, pity that a man so old should be in such a position, and in granting a remand for ono week advised the accused to go hack to {ho Old Men's Home. Mr J. B. "Williams, of Broken Hill, and Mr X,. Glover have returned to Wellington from Napier and Hastings after four successful meetings in aid of the fund for tho distressed women and children at Broken Hill. Tliore are signs that whiskers aro being cultivated again.
