A PARLIAMENTARY RETURN. A return laid on the table of ; th« House yesterday at the instance of Colonel Mitchell (Wellington. South) shows that the number of architects and draughtsmen employed by the*Government Housing Department is three; the number of clerks, ; 17;.;and tho other employees number 22. -The total cost of the department since -December Ist, 1919, in salaries is £4616; in wages, £1251; and in general administration expenses, £1185; total, £7053. The total number of houses built is 13; in all 292 houses are now under construction; ■'. while tenders have been called for en additionalf266, and arrangements are" proceeding' for a further 514; total, 1085. In addition, 3" houses already built have been purchased; The charge to occupants for administration 'expenses iapproximately £25 per heuse—total for 1085 houses, £27,125.'. .
